Agreement
By accessing PhoneticAlphabet.org (the "site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. These terms apply alongside our privacy policy, cookie policy, and editorial disclaimer.
Acceptable use
You can read the site, link to it, quote short passages with attribution, and use the on-site converter for personal or professional reference. What you may not do:
- Scrape pages at a rate that places undue load on the server, or attempt to bypass rate limits.
- Republish whole pages on another site without permission, or pass the content off as your own.
- Strip attribution or embed the site inside an iframe of a third-party page in a way that misrepresents its origin.
- Use automated tools to interfere with the site's operation, probe for vulnerabilities outside of a responsible-disclosure context, or attempt to inject content.
- Use the converter or other content to harass, defraud, or impersonate another person.
- Use any portion of the site in a way that violates applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Brief quotations and citations for educational, journalistic, or research purposes are welcome. A link back to the source page is appreciated.
Intellectual property
The phonetic alphabet code words, IPA symbols, and Morse code patterns themselves are international standards and are not owned by us. Our explanatory text, page structure, layout, code, and design choices are protected by copyright and are owned by the operators of PhoneticAlphabet.org or their licensors.
You may:
- Print pages for personal or classroom use.
- Quote brief passages with a clear citation and a link.
- Share links to the site freely.
You may not, without prior written permission:
- Republish substantial portions of the site's original text on another site or in a paid product.
- Use the site's name, logo, or styling in a way that suggests endorsement of another product or service.
- Re-host the converter tool's code or visual interface as your own.
If you'd like to use site content in a way that goes beyond the above — for example, in a textbook or a paid training course — please ask via the contact page.
Accuracy and editorial use
We work to make the reference accurate and up to date with the underlying standards (ICAO Doc 9432, NATO STANAG 7085, FAA Order JO 7110.65, ITU radio regulations, the IPA handbook, and similar primary sources). Even so, the site is informational. It is not a substitute for the official, current edition of any standard, your employer's standard operating procedures, or formal training.
For operational use — flying, driving emergency response, military communications, certifying a course of study — rely on your authoritative source documents and your training, not this site.
Liability disclaimer
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or non-infringement.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the site.
- We are not liable for outcomes that result from acting on information found here without consulting authoritative sources.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so the above may not apply in full to you. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Third-party links and ads
Pages may link to third-party websites and may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. We don't control external sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Visiting a linked site is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.
Display ads are selected by Google's systems. The presence of an ad is not an endorsement of the advertised product or service.
Availability
We try to keep the site online and responsive, but we do not guarantee uptime. The site may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, hosting issues, or reasons outside our control. We may also remove, change, or restructure pages over time; canonical URLs are kept stable where possible, but we don't promise that any specific URL will exist forever.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last reviewed" date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. We won't notify you individually about changes; please check this page if you rely on the terms for a specific use.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be brought before the competent courts of [Jurisdiction], except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country gives you the right to sue or be sued in your local courts.
